Comedian Maulana Kasozi was placed under arrest after an arrest warrant was issued over the weekend. Maulana is seen being driven away and escorted onto a police patrol vehicle in a video that has gone viral on social media.
Maulana allegedly disobeyed court orders to care for his three children, not meeting the daily need of Shs15,000, and as a result, Mwanga 2 Court issued the warrant. Shubira Naluja, his children’s mother, accused him of neglect.
“He is not doing anything. I struggle to look for what to feed the children. The landlord is demanding rent, and previously he used to visit and leave with pennies which couldn’t help us. And when I felt I couldn’t take it anymore, he asked me to give him the children,” she narrated on Bukedde TV last Saturday.
Maulana defended himself on social media in reaction to the accusations, asserting that Naluja has a mental illness. He also released a referral note from Butabika Hospital and revealed that she reportedly tried to poison them both.
