Singer David Lutalo has spoken openly about the importance of DNA testing, saying he would rather resolve any paternity questions now than leave his family dealing with disputes after his death.

While appearing in an interview, Lutalo referenced the ongoing controversy surrounding the late Paul Kafeero, whose remains were exhumed to help determine the true beneficiaries of his estate. According to Lutalo, the situation highlights why men should not fear DNA tests when there is uncertainty about a child’s parentage.
He explained that establishing the truth while one is still alive can save families from unnecessary conflicts and legal battles in the future.
Lutalo also defended the decision to exhume Kafeero’s body for DNA samples, arguing that it was a necessary step in resolving long-standing disagreements over inheritance and paternity claims.
In his view, it would be unfair for children who are genuinely related to a deceased parent to miss out on what rightfully belongs to them, while others benefit from the estate without any biological connection.
The “Kabisi Ka Ndagala” hitmaker further revealed that several people have approached him over the years claiming he fathered their children. However, he said some of the claims left him puzzled because he had never even met the mothers involved.
As a result, Lutalo insists that any woman who believes he is the father of her child should be prepared for a DNA test. He believes verifying such claims early is the best way to avoid confusion and misunderstandings later on.
The singer concluded by noting that death can come unexpectedly, which is why he prefers to address sensitive family matters while he is still alive rather than leave unanswered questions behind.
